You Are What You Build?

On my way south, I had the pleasure of stopping in to see Alan Drayton of BioBuild. We had a catch-up scheduled to test a stabilized rammed earth sample—not just any sample, but a 6-month-old wall section using Geobind Limited low-carbon binder as a cement alternative!

As we watered the wall, we talked science, performance, and expectations for the test results. The conversation then turned to a deeper question: Why do we build the way we do? Alan, as a sustainable construction expert, had a wonderful outlook on this topic.

The sentiment that stuck with me was simple: every project undertaken imparts a piece of the craftsman—mental effort, energy, and emotion. This is what drives us to do things differently, to share our passion with the homeowner, so they can experience the thought, precision, and heart that went into building their project.

I like to think that's why natural buildings feel so good to be in. It’s a sentiment that aligns with our company’s purpose. I’m already looking forward to the next round of testing with Alan!
